TRIBUTE TO OUR VETERANS

We honor today all of our brave men and women who have fought valiantly in past wars to secure our freedom and the freedom of our children and grand children.  These men and women have left their families and homes to go across oceans to fight those who would take away our freedoms, so that we would not have to fight these enemies on our own soil.

They have sacrificed their time for this sacred duty, and we ought to be grateful and not forget their dedication.  Many not only left family and friends, but many sacrificed their good health and came home injured.  Many did not come home at all.   We salute the following American soldiers who gave their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom:

WW I – 116,516 dead

WW II – 404,997 dead

Korean War – 54,246 dead

Vietnam – 58,253 dead

92 Gulf War – 269 dead

03 Iraq War – 393 dead  (to date)

Remember the following and never forget....

IT IS THE VETERAN....

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
