1. God has designed a special plan for each of us. We believe the Bible teaches that God does have a special plan designed for each of us, (Acts 9:1-15) and He will show us that plan for our life if we will let Him (Psa. 25:9-12). I believe God will lead and guide us on where and if He wants us to go to college, what career He wants us to pursue, who He wants us to marry, the area He wants us to live in and the very local church He wants us to attend. (John 16:13), Psalms 143:8, Exod. 15:13). I believe we will be happiest if we submit and allow God to guide us into His plan for our life (Psa 37:23). However, let me say, if we are not walking close to the Lord during the period in our life when some major decisions are made and we make some wrong decisions, I still believe a fellow can come back to the Lord and the Lord can take us where we’re at and use us and bless us. It might not be the primary plan He had for us in some areas because some of these areas might be gone forever, (ie the person He had originally planned for us to marry, etc), but some areas may be salvaged. For example, a call to the ministry might be heeded finally 10 years after it was originally rejected, etc.
2. God has a personal interest in each of our lives and it gives God great joy when we seek His will and when we obey and follow the plan He has designed for us. Psalms 139:1-6 shows that God has been personally concerned about each of us even before we were formed in the womb. Once we realize this, the Christian life takes on a whole new meaning and becomes most exciting. No one ever gets down to serious business about seeking God’s will until he is thoroughly convinced that such a plan exists! Once you are convinced such a plan exists, the excitement begins.
3. The Bible teaches that God wants us to know His will for our life! (Psa. 32:8,9) God’s plan for our life is not some mystery that he tries to hide from us! He’s not making it difficult for us to discover. It is not a puzzle to figure out where He is trying to trick us!
4. Anyone who sincerely seeks His will can find it. (James 1:5-8) The born again believer who is SERIOUS about finding God’s plan for his life will find it if he follows the Bible’s guidelines for finding such.. Some would argue that God has no special plan for each of us, but rather He lets us choose whatever path we will, and He will bless that if we serve Him. I believe the above is somewhat true. God will bless us in whatever course of life we choose as long as we’re trying to serve Him. However, to say God doesn’t have a FIRST CHOICE on major areas of our life just doesn’t seem to line up with Scripture. Otherwise the Bible would not say over and over that God GUIDES US, ORDERS OUR STEPS, LEADS US by His still small voice of the Holy Spirit. The Bible specifically says God does have a will or plan for our life and we are to UNDERSTAND or discover what that PERFECT will is. (Eph 5:17).
